Advanced Reveal with Text Animation on AfterEffects

 While I have already learned some reveal tricks, I found a tutorial that does it a different way and is able to create less "static" reveals than the original tutorial I had watched earlier. 

Step one was to create a composition and add text, then draw a rectangle in a shape layer and have it sit below your text, not completely over top. Name it MATTE, put it below the text layer, and drop the SET MATTE effect on your text layer. The select the Invert Matte feature. 

Then, go to the text layer and hit ANIMATE and POSITION. Then animate the OFFSET and set it to 100 after placing the keyframe. Use Easy Ease and then play around with the speed graph. 

Under Advanced, change the shape to RAMP UP and then change the OFFSET on the first keyframe to -100. This is just a way to make it look much smoother. 

I really like the way this looks! I never thought about going into the speed graph and adjusting it but I'm glad I did.

I like this one because it looks more professional and minimal, which means I can even use this effect on projects that do not accept a lot of extra frills.  2. Making a Crash Zoom Effect with AfterEffects

This is a basic "cheat" effect from using your actual camera lens. I am just using one stock footage clip of Pexels, so I will have to adjust accordingly for the tutorial.  I aligned one cropped/zoomed in version of the clip perfectly over the full clip. Learning a "Bouncing" Animation in AfterEffects

Today I am learning how to adjust an object to perform a bouncing motion on AfterEffects. I began by placing it into the new composition and selecting"pre comp". I made sure to move all attributes into the new composition and resized the precomposition to the size of my graphic. I held the command tool and positioned the anchor point down to the bottom. I started animating it by pulling it to the side and off the composition, dragging a ruler down for the "ground". I selected the position keyframe and moved the object in a bouncing manner (with it declining more and more each time). I used the pen tool again and made each transition curved. After finishing that, I altered the path I originally made by first selecting every other keyframe of the "top" points and hitting F9 to easy ease it.  I can also use the graph editor and bring up these keyframes to make the bouncing motion "stop" for a few milliseconds to realistically resemble a bouncing obj...
